Ordering

Why don’t you have more tests?

Because more would not help you. Some companies advertise several hundred separate tests and present that as a strength. It leaves you comparing ten products that differ by a single marker, trying to work out which one is best for you. And then you either go for the most expensive one to be safe, or you get nothing at all and maybe your health suffers. Choice is not the same as help.

So the number of tests stays small and the number of markers you can add does not. 8 profiles and 8 panels cover the major systems people should be testing, and individual markers can be added to any venous order on top. The choice arrives in the add-ons, where you can customise your test, not get overwhelmed. We will never sell 100 tests.

A new profile only gets added where there is a real gap. TRT Monitor Complete exists because it adds thyroid function, kidney function, HbA1c and inflammation to TRT Monitor, and keeps every marker the cheaper one already had. That is a genuine step up. Ten versions of the same test, separated by one marker each, is not.

Can I buy a test for someone else?

No. You can only order for yourself, and the person the sample comes from must be the person who ordered it. The lab matches the sample to the name and date of birth on the order, so a test bought for someone else cannot be run. We do not test anyone under 18.

Where can I get a venous sample taken?

Four options, chosen in your basket: a clinic appointment at a nationwide network of 275 clinics (£45), the lab’s London walk-in centre on Wimpole Street (£40), a nurse at your home (£65), or a clinician you arrange yourself (free). If you are not sure there is one near you, email us before you order and we will check.

Can I use my own nurse, GP or a colleague?

Yes. Choose “I’ll arrange my own blood draw” in the basket. Any clinician who takes venous blood can do it — a private GP, a practice nurse, a phlebotomy service, or a colleague if you work in healthcare. You arrange it and pay whatever they charge.

One thing to know before you go: whoever takes your blood needs to write their name and the date and time on the request form in your kit. That is a record of when the sample was taken, not an approval — the laboratory needs it because some markers are only stable for a set number of hours after the draw.

Do you do at-home tests?

Yes. Which tests, and which are venous only, is set out on our Capillary Testing page, and the option shows on the product page before you add it to your basket. You collect the sample yourself at home, at your kitchen table, in about 10 minutes, with no appointment, no clinic and nothing to arrange. Finger-prick samples fail more often than venous ones and one profile reports one fewer marker that way. We publish the failure rates before you buy.

Your kit and your sample

Will I get a kit if I booked a nurse visit or the London walk-in?

No. On both of those routes nothing is posted to you in either direction. The nurse brings the tubes and takes the sample away; at the walk-in the lab supplies everything and the sample goes straight into the building. Every other route gets a kit in the post.

Why do you keep saying Monday to Thursday?

Because blood degrades, and some markers degrade fast. A sample posted on a Friday sits over the weekend and may be rejected. Collect Monday to Thursday, post the same day, and you avoid the most common cause of a failed sample.

Can I move or cancel my appointment?

A clinic appointment, free with at least 24 hours’ notice. A nurse home visit, free with at least 72. Inside those windows, or if you don’t attend, the fee isn’t refunded because the provider charges us in full either way. Your test and kit are unaffected and you can book again. The walk-in and your own draw have nothing to cancel.

Your results

How long do results take?

The laboratory reports every test we sell within 24 hours of receiving your sample, counted in working days. The rest of the window is the post, so results usually land three to five working days after you post. Full timings are on Turnaround Times.

What if something on my report is serious?

The lab flags results that need urgent attention and tells us. We contact you as quickly as we can to say how quickly you should seek help. We will never tell you what the result was or what it means. If you feel unwell at any point, contact your GP, call 111, or go to A&E. Don’t wait for us.

When things go wrong

I’ve paid but I haven’t had an order confirmation.

Check your spam folder first, then email contact@n1health.co.uk with the name and address you used. If the payment went through, the order exists and we will find it.

My sample failed. What now?

If the fault is ours or the lab’s, you get a free replacement kit and a free retest, and we cover a further appointment if you had bought one. A kit lost or damaged in the post is replaced free. For anything else you get one free replacement kit per order, and any further replacement on the same order is £20.

Losing one or two individual markers out of a test is different, and it is not a failed test. It happens occasionally even on a sound sample, usually because the blood haemolysed in transit. We tell you plainly which markers are missing. Where a whole test on your order could not be run at all — a profile, a component of a panel, or an add-on you bought separately — you get a proportionate refund for that part. The full position is in our Refunds & Cancellations Policy.

Can I change my mind?

Yes, 14 days, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. That right ends once you unseal the kit or any sealed component inside it, and once your results have been issued. Email contact@n1health.co.uk with your order number.

Your data

Who sees my results?

The lab, and us. We download your report from the lab’s secure portal and email it to you. We do not sell data, and nothing is passed to anyone else without your instruction, other than where the law requires a lab to notify a public health body about certain infectious diseases. A clinic or nurse booking receives your contact details to arrange the appointment but never receives your results. Full detail in our Privacy Policy.
